All too often I am asked "how many crafts do you try, and mess up?" Oh goodness- alot. Although I would say 90% of the mess ups I try to make into something else, which usually turns out not so bad.
Here are a few of those mess-ups
The cork stamp. Fail. Just not squishy enough. I was really going for a bunting stamp.
The cardboard necklace holder. Nope, not gonna happen. Way to flimsy!
(Cant find the picture for this one...but it was pretty rough)

The mousepad. Yes, I still use it but it turned out pretty awful. I did it over cardboard, and it certainly needed something heavier. I'd suggest simply re-wrapping fabric over an old mouspad.
My modern lamp failure.
It was supposed to look cool, like something from umbra. I missed the boat.
And dont get me started on all the wire hangers I've had to remake because I've spelled them wrong, or metal stamps that slipped while stamping spoons, necklaces, and washers.
Just to name a few of my mistakes. I know there are many more- but sadly I don't often take photos of those :)
Now on to some help- I have a few things I'd LOVE to craft with...but would love some ideas! First is the trader joes coffee cans that are now empty!
I also have a few of these super large law books left- that can't be sold back :( Any great ideas for these?
Oh and glass jars. I love buying them...but now what do I do?!
So be thinking of that- if you've got some great ideas...I'd love to hear them!

I make redneck wine glasses out of the glass jars--they are a great gag gift and people LOVE them! here is a link to my tut for them: http://kraftingwithk.blogspot.com/2011/04/redneck-wine-glasses.html
For the jars, make mason jar lanterns. I made about 100 of those suckers for our wedding and they're awesomely easy and beautiful! They're pretty versatile beyond wedding decor too.
Here's an idea I saw for books http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/projects/diy-book-planters--145212 I think you may have already done this though? I also saw a post where they ripped of the covers of the books so they were all the same shade and bundled them with twine which was really cute.
Whew. Okay enough rambling from me!
Maybe a book lamp?

This post is so refreshingly honest - I'm glad I'm not the only one who messes up my crafts, because it certainly feels like it at times!

I made an umbrella stand years ago piling 3 coffee cans on each other and gluing (after you taken the bottoms off!)
Then I papier mached it will wrapping paper printed with umbrellas.
I had a post about making purses from old books that a friend and fellow blogger made.

I like the idea of covering old books with different fabrics for decoration!

Saw it first on Pinterest! :D
I'd repurpose those books into hidden charging stations for my ipad/pod/phone!
I have great ideas for your jars! You can always make your own bath salts and put it in your jars as gifts. Or make cookies/cake/brownies/pie in a jar, they are really easy and make cute and yummy gifts. Also I have seen people put fake moss/grass/leaves in a jar and add twinkle lights. It looks really cute hanging up. Kinds like lighting bugs. I'm sure I could figure out more things as well. Enjoy! :)
Ooooh I plan to do this one day...Just need to get my hands on some beautiful leather bound books. BUT for those you could try sealing then pages together with glue around the outer and cutting out the middle of them, re sealing with glue and you have yourself a secret storage place, they can be decorated into jewelry boxes, Cath Kidston does a tin version of these in stores for things like recipes and sewing kits and craft bits n bobs!
