I have a large stash of Trader Joes Coffee Cans from the last year (when I decided starbucks was much too expensive) Decided they would be perfect for one of those coffee can lights!
I went ahead and looked at a quatrefoil design for this. Next I drew out my own, and traced it. I didn't mind drawing right on the can, I'd end up painting it anyway.
Next I tried to decide what the use for the holes. I went with two different methods. One was my dremmel (the bigger holes) and since the trader joes cans are actually a thick cardboard, I was able to do the rest of the small holes with a tack.
It turned out great, but because part of it was cardboard, I'm worried about it...you know...going up in flames! It may be best for hanging over Xmas lights, or something not as a hot! I went ahead and held it up to the basement light, to get the general idea, but in a matter of minutes, it got extremely hot!

Great idea.

Very nice idea. Maybe get an energy saving light bulb to put in it as they don't heat up as much.
I love this! It would be perfect on my screened porch! I would love for you to share this at my link party!
