Feature: Crochet by Kaitlyn- Discount Code!

Hi, everyone! I'm Kaitlyn of Crochet by Kaitlyn. Unlike many crocheters, I didn't learn to crochet from my mother or grandmother (even though they both probably know how). I learned because I was bored to death living in England. That's not to say England is boring. I just didn't have anything to do. Let's rewind a bit.

I was born and raised in Nebraska. That's where I met Kitty. Our parents went to the same church, so we've known each other a long time. I went to college at UNL and married my sweetheart the summer after we graduated. My sweetheart is brilliant. He was offered a Gates Cambridge scholarship and ended up studying math abroad for a year. So just a few months after we married, we packed a couple of suitcases and moved to Cambridge, England. Due to various regulations, I wasn't eligible for a dependent's or work visa, so there wasn't a lot I could do. Of course I spent a lot of time cycling around, taking pictures, and whatnot, but I couldn't spend all my time doing that. I decided to learn a new skill, and I chose crochet.

After I started posting projects on my blog, hmsbadger, Kitty began encouraging me to open an Etsy shop. I built up a little stock and opened my shop in September. It's pretty fun to run an Etsy shop. I'd encourage any of you with marketable disciplines (by that I mean hobbies or crafts) to open your own shop. If you don't have a discipline, I'd encourage you to develop one. It feels really good to make something with your hands.

Now I live in Los Angeles, the city of stars. It's quite different from Nebraska and Cambridge. The traffic's awful (everyone hates it), but there are a lot of fun stuff to do. For example, I recently saw Nick Offerman (better known as Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec.) perform his standup routine. So funny. If you get a chance to see him live, do it.

That's my story. I work, I read, I crochet. I sleep with the most handsome man alive every night. If you feel like checking out my shop, I hope you like what you see. If you feel so inclined as to purchase something, take a sweet 15% off. Use the code KITTYISTHEBEST at checkout.

Pictures of things I've made (small, probably):
